Biography
Abena is a certified mathematics educator with both a bachelor's and master's degree in mathematics education. She holds an advanced degree in mathematics education and is certified to teach mathematics for grades 7-12 in New York State. With extensive experience teaching grades 7–12 in diverse classroom settings, she brings deep expertise in student-centered, inquiry-based learning. She specializes in helping students articulate mathematical ideas through structured dialogue and collaborative problem-solving. At DND, she serves as a Math Discussion Instructor, guiding students to reason, express, and defend their thinking in English through bilingual, concept-based math discussions.
